Who can apply — key eligibility
- Essential qualification: Law degree from a recognized university (must hold by last date of application).
- Age (as on 01 Jul 2025): 21 to 40 years
- Born not earlier than 2 Jul 1985 and not later than 1 Jul 2004
- PH (PWD) upper age limit: 55 years (born not before 2 Jul 1970)
- Concessions: +5 years for SC/ST/OBC/State Govt employees/skilled players; other relaxations as per rules
Reservation & Category Rules (highlights)
- Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/Ex-Servicemen/Dependents of Freedom Fighters/PWD and other horizontal categories as per UP Govt rules
- Note: Only domiciles of UP get state reservation benefits. Non-UP residents claiming reserved status are not eligible for these concessions
Application process — OTR-based (One Time Registration)
- Obtain O.T.R. (One Time Registration) number from the Commission's OTR portal before applying (allow at least 72 hours prior).
- Login via OTR, authenticate (OTP or OTR password); personal details auto-fill.
- Fill essential qualifications and submit.
- Pay through SBI MOPS (Netbanking, Card, other modes). Print transaction slip.
- After success, print the final submitted application. Keep both soft & hard copies.
Important: Applications by any other medium will not be accepted.
Fees (Preliminary exam — category-wise)
- Unreserved / OBC / EWS: ₹125 (Exam fee ₹100 + processing ₹25)
- SC / ST / Ex-Servicemen: ₹65 (Exam fee ₹40 + processing ₹25)
- PWD (U.P.): ₹25 (only processing fee; exam fee exempt)
- Ex-Army (U.P.): ₹105 (Exam fee ₹80 + processing ₹25)
(Main exam fee is separate; check notification before applying for Main)

- Negative marking: 1/3rd mark for each wrong answer

- Main Examination (Written)
- Six papers: General Hindi, General English, General Knowledge, Criminal Law & Procedure, Sakshya Adhiniyam (Evidence), and Other Laws
- Total Marks: 450
- Interview / Personality Test
- Marks: 50
- Final Merit = Written Marks + Interview Marks
